both. depends on how much time you have available to listen at one go, I guess. A long quiet night at home might be an opera's worth ( if one isn't playing live in your area), whereas a romantic symphony ( post- Brahms) might only take and hour and a half.....
Live is best, of course, even if it's not the stars who are performing. Something to do with the sheer physicality of those sound waves in motion, I guess, not to mention the beauty involved.
Happy listening

I have no subject concerns with crossover/popera singers as long as they even have good voices. I cherished Charlotte Church's early albums lots, and Hayley Westenra is very nicely for me too. Emmy Rossum besides, whilst she sang interior the 2004 Phantom of the Opera action picture. the three Tenors branching out into pop music will certainly be fairly exciting. i don't recognize why maximum classical 'purists' rather despise the form, yet i'm guessing it rather is because of the fact many human beings call those crossover and popera singers "opera singers", which they are actually not. and because opera demands lots greater paintings and technique than popera/crossover, i will see why some would get indignant whilst others think of that those singers are doing "opera". I admit, i'm getting noticeably miffed whilst human beings persistently tell me stuff like "she has this form of super opera voice...wow!" comparable is going for whilst human beings say a crossover artiste is a 'classical musician' purely because of the fact the music sounds 'classical' to them. I quite have subject concerns with human beings calling a crossover musician a 'super classical musician' whilst there are maximum of authentic classical musicians who're technically and musically greater greater advantageous. call it musician's delight or something...i assume it rather is because of the fact we put in lots attempt into technique and musicality, yet somebody else who would have purely accomplished 20% of what we've gets branded a 'super musician'.
