It's likely that labor is under way, when your contractions become increasingly longer, stronger, and closer together. They may be as far apart as every ten minutes or so in the beginning, but they won't stop or ease up no matter what you do. And in time, they'll become more painful and closer together. In some cases, though, the onset of strong, regular contractions comes with little or no warning — it's different for every woman and with every pregnancy.

Well sweetie first of all YOU WILL KNOW!! The best way to know is to time your contractions. It is very differant from BH which is normally not painfull at all maybe just uncomfortable.. Real labour is VERY painfull!! If you get a contractions - time it. If your contraction last 60 seconds and it takes another 4 minutes for the next contraction then it is said that your contractions are 5 min apart... Most doctors though want you to go to hospital when they are 10 min apart and last for at least an hour from when it begun.. Only 1-3% of all woman's water break before labour so dont go on that!! Your mucus plug can also dislodge up to 3 weeks before you go into labour!! Rather go on the contractions just START TIMING!!!!
Good luck and god bless

You will have contractions that get stronger and closer together. back ache or water breaks either a gush or a trickle.... sometimes you may see discharge like a mucous plug that may be tainted with a spot of blood or brownish tinged. your braxton hick contratctions will become stromger and more intense. when in doubt PLEASE dont wait untill the last minute to get checked out. If you think you are now... go to the doctor!! p.s get the epidural you will love the man that gives it to ya... or woman (smile)

There are a lot of ways from contractions to your waters breaking to have a show and even getting diarrhoea.

Umm.........you have really bad pains that continue for a long period of time that keep getting stronger and/or your water breaks. Those are the best signs.
