Absolutely not!! It's all in how you use it!
True, it CAN be a problem ... but it doesn't have to be!

My mobile phone pet peeves:
--People who drive while on the phone ... hands free or otherwise doesn't matter, you still aren't concentrating on the road.
--People who insist on carrying on a loud conversation for 15 minutes or longer when on a train, in a restuarant, and other places where it is an inconvenience to those around them.

Why I LOVE mobile phones.... and saw to it that each of my kids had one from about age 12-14 ...
--I could always get hold of them
--They could always get hold of me!
--I knew if they were in a troublesome situation, they had the means to contact me or someone else for assistance.

--I am disabled and feel more secure with one always with me
--I have elderly parents that are not in best of health and I know they can get me 24/7
-- kids are all adults now and have their own families, and again, I know they can always get me if they need to

They real key here is, I control my mobile phone, it does not control me.

Some mobile phone plans are cheaper then land base lines, at least when it comes to long distance.

Just some of the problems are:

Someone driving, talking on their cell phone and almost hits me because they are too busy with their phone glued to their ear and can't look to the side the phone is on.
That right there has happened many times, and just today.

People going on way too loudly in public, its annoying and rude.

Forgetting to turn off the ringer while at the movies. One time, someone's phone ring 5 times (this would be, it rang for awhile, stopped and a moment later it rang again, that happened 5 times) and they never answered it either.

Students too busy on cell phones while in class. Your there to learn not text message people.

I say for the most part, the problems out do the benefits. When I had one, it was always on unless I was somewhere like the movies, doctor office, class, that sort of thing. I only really used it for talking long distance to my love (and I first only got it for when winter came, if I slid off the road I could call someone). Now that he is here, I only use a cell phone for very important things like my car breaking down or calling 911.

Think of how many crashs and deaths happen because of people not paying attection to their driving. That puts CELL PHONES in there as well.

And more proof.
