Indexing allows you to read individual elements in an array by number. The number can be sequenced or derrived by a formula.

For X = 0 to 9
num = intArray(X)
total = total + num
Next
avg = total /num

Indexing is also used to sort information in a a database to allow easier searching. An internal list of index values is created in another array so as to point to data in a sorted order.
