What is the name of the star which is very close to earth? What is the distance between that star & earth? Is there any specific importance to that star?

Proxima Centauri at 4.2 light years.
It is the nearest & appear to be bigger than other stars.Thats the only specific importance.

Yes, it's proxima Centauri. Not sure what you'd want for importance of it but I found some interesting info.

"Proxima Centauri has been suggested as a logical first destination for interstellar travel, although as a flare star it would not be particularly hospitable. The current standard spaceship, the Space Shuttle, travels in orbit at 7.8 km/s. At that speed, it would take 160,000 years to reach Proxima. The fastest man-made spacecraft, the Helios II deep space probe, has set a speed record of 70.2 km/s. Even at that speed, the journey to Proxima Centauri would take 18,000 years. There's nothing "important" about it. It's a red dwarf star in the triple-star system of Alpha Centauri. Proxima is the closest to us of the three stars.
