Many hispanics, especially older hispanics try to mirror white American culture to be accepted by whites. Back in the day whites were very racist towards hispanics, I think some hispanics just gave up and said, if we are going to be happy in this country we have to act and be as white as we can and that means hating on black or darker skin people.
Thank God for pro hispanic cultural groups like la raza.
