You should separate the new horse and keep him away from the others. After a week or so, introduce them slowly.
Horses will set up their own hierarchy. When a new horse is introduced, it throws all the established relationships off.
Some horses have strong bonds with a special friend. They can be quite protective of the friend, who may be happy to go make a new friend. It can cause lots of aggression.

The best thing is to go slow, watch carefully and try to make sure that no one gets caught in corner or other dead end where they can be kicked or abused. Most horses seem to at least tolerate each other once they have been properly introduced. Until this has happened, it can be dangerous.

Good luck!

do whatever you can to separate the new guy on the block, the last thing you want is a lame horse and a vet bill. Boys will be boys. If you don't have a holding pen or a seperate area, maybe you could board him out until you get something set up. Eventually they will make a new pecking order but it wont happen overnight.

ok! people don't know what they're talking about!
This is very normal behavior for male horses (both stallions and geldings) you just need to let them astablish their pecking order and then they will all be happy friends! And no, it wont happen over night but horses are very smart animals and one is not going to keep up a fight with a much stronger horse and get hurt! they are smart enough to back down before the are injured. Just let horses be horses.

This is perfectly normal. I would let them be unless one is getting injured. The behavior will calm down but since they will probally always "play fight" just like little boys do. If horses aren't able to experience this type of normal behavior, they do not learn how to interact with other horses.
