I own an iPod nano 4gig, which was bought for me christmas '05, but I didn't get to open or use until June '06. Now it doesn't seem to want to charge...sometimes if I wiggle the USB cable, it'll do so...but now it doesn't want to respond to ANYTHING. I have a little over 600 songs on it, some which haven't been backed up yet. Could it be possible that I only need a new cable? If not, is there any way to save my nano? Music is my life, and i'm quite attached to it. Please help!

Batteries can deteriorate over time(Dependant on Storage temperatures).
Apple have acknowledged problem with this Line of Nano-(Battery Problems).

If you wish to back up music from your iPod, download an application called senuti.com.
This will allow you use you iPod as a Hard drive(Thus saving your music).
I would advise Backing up iTunes Music Folder every Month(Or as often as You Buy or Import New Music).

There are 3rd party Battery Replacement kits on the Market(Fiddly, but if you can be bothered-Well worth it!)

WHY DONT YOU coach HIM to purchase HIS music, rather of STEALING IT? to no longer point out the reality which you're putting your self, your abode, and kinfolk in possibility of a lawsuit. they're suing people for around $seven-hundred consistent with track recently. Its only no longer nicely well worth the possibility. extremely with low-fee criminal guidance on a thank you to get music like Napster, (15/month infinite). Even iTunes at ninety 9 cents consistent with track isn't a nasty deal. iTunes SYNCS your music. what's deleted from one library would be deleted from the different.

You said that you have CHARGING difficulties... that means the batteries... nah, you just have to buy a new cable...your 600 songs are still there it's just that you can't play it because of low battery energy or it has no power at all... Otherwise just buy a new iPod... and next time, buy a cheap one so that you wont regret if you've broken it and it's really expensive...
