I'm a Libertarian, with the impression that if Bush says it, a Republican will believe it. Ditto for Dems. If a Democratic president says it, a Dem will believe it.

Try showing him the pictures that FOX news ran of the caverns full of WMDs that were recovered in Iraq. What? There were no pictures?

I'm sure there must be a reason. I know if I was president I would make sure those pictures ran on FOX every hour on the hour for at least six years. I guess there must be a national security reason we couldn't see them.

Surely if a single WMD had been found we would have seen it on every channel. Bush was lying, folks.

Liberals may lie sometimes, and conservatives sometimes as well, but George W. Bush was lying then. Perhaps a kinder interpretation was that he guessed and was wrong, but he said he was sure, and that was a lie at the very least.

I realize it is no easier for a conservative to face the facts than it would be for a liberal whose leader had acted so shamefully. I know that the liberals rejected Lyndon Johnson, who was the quintessential liberal, because they felt betrayed by his policies.

How far down the road are you prepared to go before you realize you have been betrayed as well?

Probably by having them see some honest reporting about Iraqi casualties and the current state of our veterans' benefits. Or perhaps it's having half the Justice Department "retire" due to scandal. What do you think?
