In a democracy the people are entitled to believe that, once the government is elected, it will rule for all the people. This is unfortunately not the attitude of the Bush League, and Americans are tired of it.
While I am pragmatic enough to believe the corporately owned media will be manipulated by the best propagandists the GOP can afford, and cynical enough to believe that a lot of voters believe whatever their television tells them, I am doubtful that they will hang onto the White House.
The fact is, Bush is pretty well done already. Enough of the public have caught on, and he has lost control of Congress. For longer than expected his smoke and mirrors distracted the citizenry from his doubtful election, and his fireworks awed the easily distracted, but the public are onto him now.
George W. Bush will be remembered as a man who took the Republican party into disrepute and minority. His spin doctors might manage to hang the blame on whatever poor man the Republicans run (and it will be a man) but George the Second is the one historians will credit with the Democratic resurgence.
I doubt that this will be fair. After all, the man was only doing what he was told.
As for the political capital of 2004, friend, he was in so deep a deficit that he could never hope to catch up. Show me the pictures of the WMDs. If Bush had been telling the truth, you know we would have seen the pictures.
No pictures. No capital.

Unfortunately for him, Bush himself was the only one who believed that he earned that political capital.
That became all too apparent a short 24 months later.

Because he's spending it for selfish and criminal reasons. Plus, his "political capital spending" is causing this country to go bankrupt. That is why your Republican party lost the House and Senate.
Now go spend that...
