They're all members of the Economic Committee of West African States [ECOWAS], which means that in a few years, they will all share the same currency [the Eco].

Togo, Benin & Nigeria share the Niger River. It's the 2nd longest river in Africa, after the Nile. The river starts in the Ivory Coast and empties itself in the Niger delta in Nigeria.

All the countries are 3rd world/developing countries and do not have very good per capital incomes. They also share the fact of colonialism; Togo/Cameroon/Benin are Francophone; Nigeria is Anglophone. All these countries also suffered the slave trade. Generally, the tribal peoples of these countries share common ancestry - yoruba, dahomey, etc.
