PRINCE WILLIAM will become king in 5-10 years time,
as Charles will either be dead or step down before that.

This depends to a certain extent upon when the Queen dies. If she died next week Charles would be proclaimed King because William hasn't got the experience. As William gets older and more capable he is going to be the most popular choice, but how on Earth does the country say NO to Charles? It is his birthright after all.

Charles

Did I just see the dreaded bad word, abdicate? The WIndsors don't take to kindly to that word, unlike other European royal houses , most notably those of the Netherlands and Liechtenstein, whose current heads of state ascended the throne after abdication, the queen will not step down.
Although it's been 71 yrs since Queen Elizabeth's uncle, King Edward VIII abdicated to marry American divorcee Wallis Simpson, the Brit monarchy still
bristles at the mere thought of abdication. Despite his divorce, Prince
Charles will ascend the throne because it
is his birthright. He, like his mother
will not step aside in name of his son.
The line of succession will remain as it is now. One question, who in 2005 did Charles marry? , he married his mistress, the same woman who he had an affair with during both of their respective first marriages. So don't cast the adultry stone squarely at Diana without knowing all of the facts,

I don't know why this question keeps coming up. Charles is the Prince of Wales, the legally recognized heir to the throne. Unless he dies in the interim, William will not succeed until after his father.

It's not a popularity contest, it's the accepted order of succession.

well it depends, Charles is looking alot older every time i see him in the papers - He is an old man and not likely to live for more than the next 15 - twenty years, The Queen on the other hand seems to be doing fine, no signs of her health failing, she could very well be on the throne in 25 years time, if she is like her mother -Its possible.

William (providing Charles kicks the bucket first) will be King.

It Charles outlives his mother (which is not assured) then both of them will be King (one after the other) otherwise it will be William next.

Don't like either of them.
But Charlie will be king first, until he dies and Will takes over.

"Good Time" Charlie will be king of all he surveys, including over Camilla, who will end up being nothing but a mule skinner. Young Wills will have to wait his turn.
