Enabling WEP security effectively cuts your range in half.
It is also the OLD way of protecting your wireless network.
Use WPA Personal (WPA PSK).

Having WEP or WPA enabled will not prevent you from directly connecting your Laptop or PC using the LAN ports on your router. Just log in to the router at it's default address, (Dlink uses 192.168.0.1) and disable wireless security.

If You need to HARD RESET the router. Unplug it, hold in the reset button on the back of the router and plug it in at the same time. Hold the button in for at least 10 seconds then release it. The DLINK will reset to SSID=dlink, User=admin and no password, address=192.168.0.1.

If you still cannot connect to the router, then start>run>cmd
ipconfig /release
ipconfig/renew.

If you are facing any problem with your router. Just visit http://www.dlinkroutersupport.com/ and get a certified technician. You have to just make a call on their no.
