Just wondering, how long would you call something new? One week? One month? Two months?

Actually, I think it depends on the shelf life and the cost of the product you are talking about. Consequently, a shirt might be new for a couple of weeks, but a car can be called new for about six months. Tell me how long you would call the objects given below, 'New'?

1. Shirt/trouser
2. Suit
3. Car
4. Movie
5. Home theatre
6. Computer/Laptop
7. Job
8. Watch/Jewellery

New, when referring to products for sale, doesn't refer to any time period. New means that an item has ever been sold and was manufactured using new (not used or remanufactured) components. So the answer to your questions 1-6 and 8 would be that an item is new until it is sold for the first time.

The answer to #7 is subjective. I personally would consider a job to be new for 3 months.

Newness is subjective, something stops being new when the newness wears off, this can be different lengths of time for everyone.
I also can't answer number 4 because I havn't seen a new movie in ages, most of the "new" movies are just badly recycled old ideas.
