and why do they think we are all on welfare...To me, being Liberal has nothing to do with my job...I am blue collar and believe the middle class is the most people and should be protected more than corporations or the needy...because without the middle class, this nation is nothing....I believe everyone deserves a second chance and there are few ways a decent person can bring himself out of a deep hole. I see a lot of nasty remarks about Liberals...I think these people really don't know what a Liberal is.

I don't believe people on the dole vote much...They aren't real Liberals if they are voting so they can have free money. A Liberal is idealistic and believes in his ideology

Being a Liberal is not about wanting a welfare system that encourages people not to work...You conservatives want to believe we think that, but it is not true.

You should give corey the points. I was going to be annoying, but this was a more serious question then I'm use to in here. Don't feel bad. I'm a Republican and I have been insulted more often by Neo-cons than by the libs. Evidently being called a Liberal is actually a major insult. Its a way to shut down people with out thinking. Its like when some on the other side call people racist. It doesn't make sense all the time, and it shows a lack of ability to think. If they had a brain, they should have found a way to argue a point in a matter that would dispell your assertion. Take it as a complement. It shows you out smarted them.

Most bigshot liberals head directly for entertainment, education, newsmedia or government bureaucracy jobs, creating more rules and spending more money. To most blue collar workers like us, we don't consider that very hard work. tehy are just making life harder, and if you had poor teachers like I did, you don't figure they are worth a salary four times the median income in the school district, and getting a quarter of the year off, no working weekends or holidays, plus they get tenure and benefits you and I can only dream of. I don't accuse liberals generally of being evil or wanting to do "bad" things, I think most of them mean well, they just keep trying to make something work, which doesn't, and keep on "tax and spending" nations and economies into holes. Less taxes, less government, that is the only thing that works, but doesn't win votes. So liberal politicians "buy" popularity by giving you back a part of your tax dollars and expecting you to wet yourself with joy. I'm not endorsing or promoting reps or the supposed "right wing" because I expect better from them, and only a loon could believe there is anything conservative about Bush other than his professed religion which after his 2nd election seems to have dried up. Too many nasty remarks all around, we need a debate and election based on issues, while we still have a country worth saving.

I again have to remind you of who was the last 'liberal' president of the USA: it was Nixon. He understood 'realpoliticks' to work with the Soviet Union; he opened detente with the mainland Chinese: the EPA came into being during his administration, and Title IX became law.
It doesn't change the fact that Nixon was a nasty paranoid bast**d, but it may give you an idea of how far right the country has swung since the 60s.
I always say that 'liberal' like Kennedy & Kerry would be pretty conservative back benchers in most other western nations.

Any group of people that can stage a protest in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday are obviously unemployed. Plus, you're all socialist, welfare/nanny-state supporters that would rather pay a man not to work, then say illegals do the jobs Americans won't. Of course Americans don't do them, you gave them my tax dollars not to!
When you rob Peter to pay Paul, you can always count on Pauls vote. Keep the blacks thinking they are oppressed and can't achieve without government backing, keep the poor thinking that the government owes them something, keep the illegals thinking they have the right to America's entitlement systems and you'll get elected every time, but at the cost of your dignity and the blue collar working man's tax dollars. But what does it matter? You could raise the Income tax to 99%, and Hillary and all the pricks in government would still be rich, while those of us that actually put into the system and keep it alive would be grubbing for quarters in the gutter.

They can't imagine that some people work hard without getting rich in the process. All the wealth, it just trickles right down, right? Just kidding.
There are stereotypes both ways, some conservatives think that liberals are all "welfare queens", others think they are all "limousine liberals". Some liberals do the same - they pretend that all conservatives are corporate fat cats or that all conservatives are redneck trailer trash.
Nasty remarks sort of blow, don't they?

I think most Liberals do. It's the expectation of government's role in how much you and I should pay in taxes and what government should be involved in that sets us apart.

I agree. But you have to realize there are alot of uneducated people out there that listen to Rush Limpdick and Fox who are basically the voices of the upper classes and the corporate class. They have a way of making these people think in terms that actually create this illusion that liberals are bad people. They do it in the same way and same kind of rhetoric that the Nazi's used in their country to get people to go against the Jews. What is so strange about these Fox followers is that they have been convinced to vote against their own interests and to vote for more humiliation against themselves in favor of more corporate corruption and corporate welfare in the form of tax subsidies. It's amazing.

They don't know what Liberals are. They only know what Rush and Ann and Sean tell them liberals are. They act like they think liberal is a dirty word, but in many ways, we are actually the more enlightened ones. *sm*

Anyone with a mainstream point of view is considered a liberal. Our politicians are past that, they acknowlege our presence and our leaders (especially (R) hopefuls) are getting on their knees as we speak to try and fit in--how sweet it is!!
