You are making this question much more difficult than it has to be.
First of all, I will disagree with you in one respect...
What is finance? Some would answer easily by saying finance is money. Others may answer that finance has to do with what you do with your money, and others might answer that finance teaches you how to grow your money and pay the least amount of taxes.
You are going to market and sell units in a residential condo complex. Well, along with trying to convince prospective buyers that these units are what they want, isn't determining if these prospective clients have the money or the credit history to actually make the purchase, part of what you do?
It takes a rather considerable sum to make this purchase. Finance also deals with considerable sums of money. There are too many paralells in finance, and dealing with people, most likely, making the largest purchase in thier lives.
Selling Real Estate is very much related to Finance!
When you studied Finance, you learned how money works. Your clients are going to learn one aspect of how money works.
What you want to do with this internship is become more familiar with "Finance" on a micro level.
Aren't they financing this purchase?
And as far as your decision to major in finance, it's because you have always been intrigued with how money works, how companies make financial decisions, and besides, you like it!
As another individual answered, That's the best reason to major in something. It could be worse, you could have majored in finance because that's where all the money is, and you want to make a lot of money!
If you look at selling condos not as a couple looking for a place to live, but rather, as a financial transaction, you will see many paralells to selling condos and majoring in finance.
Good luck, your going to do fine!

If someone buys real state, they have to finance it? Right ? , your background would be great in arranging mortgages, real estate loans, etc.
But even if you majored in something way out, like French renaisssance literature, you still
1. Started something and plan to fnish it.
2. Worked your way through problems. like the course you just couldn't handle, the meathead professor, etc. You stuck with it.
3. You learned to handle deadlines. You completed assignments on time, didn't you?

Often, having a degree doesn't determine who gets the job as much as it determines who doesn't.
Yes, you like finance is a good reason.for majoing in it.And a good answer.
Good luck

Just say you were interested in understanding how money works.. simple answer but it it can be interpreted as complex!
As for the job.. they don't care about your education. Most real estate agents don't even have a bachelors! They just care that you are OUTGOING and can sell..
Good luck..

Forget what your major is.
Go in and sell yourself. "I want to work here because..." If you don't know why you want to work there you are going to have a tough time convincing them why you should be there.
Ask yourself right now..."why do I want to work there?" You have to be able to answer the question yourself before you can explain it to them. Again...forget about being labeled by your major. Use your education to emphasize you...SELL YOURSELF!!!!
