i want to take both classes because i want to be as advanced in math as i can be, i have no idea what i want to be yet so it would be good to be advance in all areas, but i just dont even really know the difference between the two?

Geometry is more of a visual subject, while algebra involves a lot more arithmetic. Also the problem solving in geomety requires more abstract thought while the problems in algebra have to do with using formulas in different ways. There are times when you will require some algebric formulas for geometry, but your teacher will probably be nice about it and let you know which formulas they are. I highly recommend doubling up even though it will be a lot of work, it'll really help if you plan to go to a science field or it could help you get out of math requirements in college if you plan to do something else and have already taken calculus in HS. I suggest you look at the first chapter in the books for each subject as a way to help you decide. Good luck!

Geometry is the matematical art of dealing with plane and 3-dimensional shapes and structures. Algebra is mainly the mathematics of dealing with unknown values. It is a generalised version of arithmetic that uses varibles to stand for unspecified values or numbers. Both have many practical uses.

An architect, an engineer or a designer must rock at geometry. You need algebra for higher level work. Sometimes, geometry and algebra can intersect. They can give you the measure of two sides of a right triangle and ask you to find the third one.

In 8th grade? i do no longer think of so. I, like your sister, doubled up in Geometry and Algebra 2 as a sophomore. In my college, in case you took Algebra a million in 8th grade, you took a placement try to in case you exceeded, you will possibly be able to desire to take Algebra 2 and geometry as a freshman.

Are you talking about algebra I and geometry or about geometry and algebra II / trig?

If you are talking about the algebra I and geometry, I wouldn't even think about attempting it. It would take a student brilliant in math to pull it off. Geometry would be very difficult. It presupposes some knowledge of basic algebra. Even if the concepts in algebra I are not used explicitly that much in geometry, the ability to think more abstractly about mathematical concepts and to understand how to use variables is definitely required.

Geometry and algebra II/trig might not be quite as bad but it would still be very difficult, too difficult in my opinion, for the majority of students. Mathematics knowledge is sequential. It builds upon concepts learned in prior courses.

I think it is easiest to take the courses one at a time and learn them well.

Geometry involves anything that has to do with shapes. It is the study of angles, shapes, length of their sides, proofs, triangles and formulas.

In Algebra, you basically have to solve for the variables, a letter that stands for an unknown number. There will be variables in inequalities, polynomials, square roots, radicals... and whatnot..

Basically, geometry means shapes, areas, volumes, etc. Algebra means variable and using equations/ expressions to solve them.

Yes, then you can take Algebra II followed by Precalc then AP Calc or AP Statistics (which can also be taken concurrently with Precalc) You will have college credits in math before graduating HS. PLEASE don't let this path be the end of mathematics for you though! STEM is a great career path and the only reason to accelerate your math learning is to pursue STEM related careers.

algebra is mainly about solving equations with unknowns.
geometry is analyzing shapes and figues.

algebra tends to be a bit harder than geometry, because it deals with more math. itz up to u if u want to take both
