I think I wish Id thought of it first. I remember first hearing about potter some years back and of course my child was ga ga for a story about a boy wizard. As we got to reading it I enjoyed it myself. I just kept thinking where was this kind of fantasy when I was a child of course there was fantasy kid literature then but I didnt know about it. I wonder if that is part of its success the fact that children and adult alike enjoyed it and that it was written in an age where people are promoting reading to kids. Also look how it was marketed. Potter Narnia Eragon all of course roped in the kids but held something for adults as well. And of course it helped that various religious groups spoke against it chuckles.

I'm not surprised at all - I love the whole concept of Harry Potter, not just the wizarding stuff, but Rowling seems to bring your attention to the fact that these characters are actually human regardless of their special gifts.
I believe that most of the fans are actually drawn by this. People can actually relate to the characters. Who can resist a flawed hero's struggle to save what he loves most!!

I know I cant! Anxiously awaiting the 7th book.

All that from a lady who was on welfare and writing on a library computer with a baby in a stroller beside her. What a lesson for all you kids out there. Dreams really do come true. And you don't even have to know Tinkerbelle. C.
