"Social Fascists" was only a name given to the SPD by the KPD, under the guidance of the CPSU (Communist Party Soviet Union) via the Comintern. In truth, the Socialist Party were not fascists at all! They were Socialists more committed to reform than the revolution as favoured at one time by the KPD. Changing the strategy from revolution to elections was an idea the Comintern influenced the KPD to make to gain popularity in Germany in the 1930s.
The SPD was not a bad thing at all, they were Socialists, no different from many of the other European Socialist parties in Europe at the time, and even today.

Social fascists was a name used for the Socialist SPd by the Communists. It is the idea of calling them that that was a bad one, because the Communist policy ensured that the opposition to the Nazis remained fragmented.

As far as I know, the social fascists were the extreme rightists in which this term has its own political meaning, principle and application, please consult an encyclopedia or a recent politics reference. One of the reasons why they were a bad thing in Germany in the 1930's is ultimately concerned with the issue of racism in the name of Aryan supremacy (which was sheer misunderstood ignorance, a great bias of the believers, the worst immoral issue in the world history) and, moreover, the unimaginable holocaust of some million Jews who perished under the racist bias from those in command or in charge of engineering humankind into a pure race which is impossible and inhuman. I hope you have some ideas to continue on your debate.

The Social Facists were traditionally referred to as Nazi (National Socialists); their political agenda gained favor in 1930's Germany because the political party placed anyone who wasn't of Aryan blood, as the cause for the nation's economic turmoil following WW I. The sweeping favor for a scapegoat, became a fast ideal adopted by a starving, ravaged, and politically emasculated nation... but the 'scapegoat' saddly became Jews, Catholics, Handicapped, Homosexuals, Gypsies, etc.
