Being an absolute USC hater I would love nothing more to say that Cal will win the Pac-10, but it is just not so. I know you are saying that Nate Longshore is coming back and so is Desean Jackson and Justin Forsett, but the loss of Marshawn Lynch was BIG! He was the work horse of the team when things were at the bleakest moments, and he almost carried them on his back against USC last season. USC has big Left Tackle Sam Baker returning to protect returning quarterback John David Booty, as well as to make holes for a trio of running backs in CJ Gable, Chauncy Washington, and Emmanuel Moody. If the running backs don't get the ball and Booty has to pass it, he could throw to a number of deep threats, such as Vidal Hazleton, Patrick Turner, Jamere Holland, and Travon Patterson. On the defensive side of the ball they have linebackers Ray Maualuga and Brian Cushing returning, along with Sedrick Ellis to anchor the Defensive Line, and Big Play Taylor Mays in the Secondary to rain on any soul who wavers too deep for thier own good. Cal will be good, and will definitely give USC a run for their money, but USC will prevail and win the Pac-10. Ouch saying all that really hurt.

USC, with out a doubt, will win the Pac-10 title. I'm not a trojan fan in the least but did follow John David Booty's high school career and can say he's one heck of a quarterback. As well USC's defense is going to be strong with all the players they have returning.

Cal's best chance was last year when USC was rebuilding. SC has 10 of 11 defensive starters returning, an offense that suffered due to youth and inexperience last year will be older and more experienced and (according to rivals.com) has the top two rb recruits in the country coming to campus. USC is now built. There is only one clear front runner now.

USC. The defense is always going to be good under Pete Carol, and next year there offense is going to be a lot more mature. Of course they lost Jarett, but they had a really young crew of running backs and receivers. John David Booty had a great year last year and he's just going to get better.
