i've watched 300 twice (havent read the comics) and for the life of me i couldnt understand what they said when the king ask what profession they have, they've been yelling it all through out the movie but i couldnt quiet catch it (i know they were soldiers (DUH)) but it doesnt sound like they were shouting "soldiers" ..... its sounded more like "a-hoo" or "a-woo" to me... what was the word that they yelled?

This movie complately base on LIE. can you blieve 300 men pulling off to 1 million??
if that 1 million men did spit, all that 300 men were sinked!

I've seen the movie 4 times, and I know what part you're speaking about. For the life of me I can't remember what they particularly shouted (though I remember the scene in crystal clarity). I would say "A-hoo!" which I would take as similar as what the Marine Corps says today, "Oo-rah!" The Spartans didn't need to state their profession, the other Greeks were craftsmen taking up arms in defense, the Spartans are trained for the military since age 7.

i think they just yelled "woo-ah", plus Leonidas says something like "spartans what is your profession," so why would the Spartans yell back "spartans."

ahaha i kind of laughed at that part, because they aren't really saying a word, just something like "a-hoo!"
contrary to popular belief, they weren't saying "spartans" because if you listen carefully the phonetics don't contain any consonants.

They just yell "a-hoo". the same way modern day Marines yell "Hoo-rah" or "hoo-yah". It's jsut thier camradery cry, you know?
