Pumpkin "luminarias" lining the aisle, if this can be done safely.

Remember it is "All Halloweds Evening"...I think it should be a black tie affair. Everyone is to wear black, except the bride. All prayer lillies. Very simple and elegant with that pumpkin motif.

The ceremony should not start until sunset.

We had a costume party for ours (in 1998) and provided masks for our guests who didn't get the point. We decorated the entire banquet room with black and orange streamers, made orange and black construction paper "oriental lanterns" large enough to fit over the candles in the glasses that the place provided. We also used store bought spider webs and other decorations. Since most of our guests were gamers, we made little chamois dice bags and wrote our names and the year on them and gave every guest a set of mini dice at their place setting. The cake was a Halloween one from a local bakery (THAT saved us big $ right there).
Hope your day is as much fun as ours was, and, btw, our anniversaries have been a blast, too.

A friend of mine got married on halloween and did a masqued ball type of theme where all the guests got a fancy eye mask with feathers and sequins to wear for the evening. the colors were black and red. They used bowls of water dry ice or something and candles so there was mist around the tables. He even gave her a giant ring pop for a gag at the service. everything was just beautiful.

Sounds like fun. I would add a part to the ceremony where you honored or talked to your ancestors and family members that have passed. The veil is thinnest then and it could add a nice touch. Another one of our traditions that time of year is to write a habit you want to break or something you want to banish from your life (poverty, bad health) on a piece of paper and throw it in the Samhain fire to let the Dark Mother take it from you With the wedding, you could write things like loneliness, sleeping alone, whatever.

My friend did this a few years ago and it was the bomb! He wore a black goth outfit with a high collar and cape, she wore a sexy black leather and lace bridal gown. The best men wore traditional "dracula tuxedos" with capes and the brides mades wore white "bride of Frankenstien" dresses. The minister wore a black robe with red piping. All the guest were told to either wear black or there favorite costume. The reception was a blast. The cake was a big coffin about 4 ft long with a tombstone that had their names on it and "til death do us part".

The official who marries you should emerge from a standing coffin. Black and orange colors.. spiderwebs everywhere.

What a fun idea!
