the best match for a tie, would be the color of your instrument.
For example, if you play:
a violin*: brown tie
a flute: silver tie
a clarinet: black tie
trumpet, trombone, saxaphone**; gold tie
*any string instrument that has wood
**any brass plated instrument; trumpet trombone, saxaphone etc.

Black tie!
I'm sure that black tie will make you look better and cooler when you're on the stage. Like Justin Timberlake for the best example, do you think he's really cool, stylish and mature?
I think so. So try it on.
It sure good!

I would suggest a pastel coloured one or a stripped coloured one in bold colours to add a dash of colour to the overall sombre outfit.
