With the "revelation" that Chiquita Brand company funneled millions of dollars to terrorists, does it prove yet that the government lacks in the ability to find it's own tail? Or do we need another "revelation"?

I think they are smart. They can hide the fact that we are the biggest terroists, arms/drug dealers around, while getting the public to pay for it.

NO, I would not agree. Aren't you the same person who whines about the government listening to cellphone conversations? Do you want to have privacy or the government keeping a "big" eye on you & Chiquita Brand? They sell banana for heaven sake, who is watching them until they do something to attract attention. I think this proves that some people want it both ways - that is no revelation to half the country though. We already knew.

Intelligence is an educated guess based on fractional data from often dubious sources. It's never been all that good. McAuthor was told to expect a few thousand Chinese at most infiltrating into northern Korea. Custer was told to expect a few hundred hostiles armed with obsolete weapons (certainly not Henrys). Hitler was told the invasion would be in northern France. Bush was told Iraq had WMDs. Sometimes it's correct but so often it contradicts itself so a decision maker has to go with his/hers gut feelings.

While I agree with your tail concept and that the intel agencies are as accurate as the weatherman, I don't believe they are related.

Actually I don't really think the government agents were checking out Chiquita for terrorists activities. I mean, I would never have thought of it and I thought I heard them all by this time. That news just flipped me over...I was amazed at what I read. And...they did it for protection, no less. Freaks me out.

Shows you why the prices are so high on their bananas. I like Dole better anyway.

US intelligenge people are not intelligent because they were not able to detect that 9/11 will happen. No report convinced the US President that the threat was real.
