I know you can for a 2.0L motor, but the GS Spyder I am about to buy is a 2.4L one. So can I still eventually add a turbo to the 2.4L motor??

My brother is an auto mechanic and Eclipse expert, but he's in FL for the week and I want to buy this car or 99 GST in the next couple days. The only problem is that the GST one we already know the kid before used for racing and it has like 12,000 more miles on it.... so I'm debating if it's worth getting the GST now or get the better conditioned green GS and then add a turbo, but I don't know if that's possible or how much that would be... Any help would definitely be appreciated. And it might help to know that I'm looking at automatics. I know, lame, but I am a chic. Lol.

go with the gs as long as its mechanically sound and yes you can add a turbo and is advised! if the gst is 1000 dollars or or more cheaper than the gs id go for the gst...with those your buying the name not the performance!

Hahn and Star both make turbo kits. It's expensive to turbo a non-turbo eclipse and even then you should run the boost not too high. If you are looking for a good tuning car go with the GST. If you are looking to turbo a car and okay with not going over 300 HP then get the GS and turbo it. Make sure the engine is strong enough (mechanically sound) before putting the turbo on it. At least your insurance would be cheaper since you are paying for a non-turbo even though there is a turbo on it :)

yes, they sell the kit at turbo-kits.com for the 2.4L $3400 try autotrader.com for a gst ,it will be cheaper to find 1 with the turbo than putting one on but if you cant find 1 you like i would go with the spyder out of the 2 choices (drop top, less miles and probably less wear and tear on the motor) good luck on finding one
