If you have allowed and let UPS know that it is ok to leave packages, or you left a note on the door signed that stated it was ok to leave than you would be the liable one, and should seek filing a police report to report it stolen. Also you should contact to where the package came from and tell them what happened and see their policy. If You did none of that than UPS is fully liable. These rules vary in different states slightly and you should check with an attorney free of charge. It also depends on if you live in a house, apartment, duplex, or etc. A few subdivisions also have rules about shipping and packages.

it's usually yours most companies like ups and fedex won't drop off a package unless they get a signature just from my experience and if you knew the package would be arriving in a couple of days you should of been looking out for it. even if they don't ask for a signature request request one it prevents things like this from happening

if the company you have purchased from did not request a signature - then they should accept responsibility for the package - not UPS

that UPS service could haven been purchased - but was not

so the company you bought the item from - IS

Be satisfied you probably did no longer open it or shop....you/your loved ones must be in risk or you ought to adventure the excitement of the DEA kicking on your door at 3AM with weapons drawn....

UPS.....they cover up to $100 loss.....especially if they didn't get a signature......it's the drivers discretion if it's safe enough to leave at the door.
