Let me say this, I am not racist. At least I don't think so, but the white people i work woth are getting on my last nerve. It is not only this job, but most of the jobs i've ever had. They want to control me, be the bbiggest brown noser, act more important than they are, say little things that can get them slapped, all while doing it with some unwritten code that they won't get in trouble. I am not talking about ALL white people. Most, that I 've worked with have the same attitude and do the same things. I am even the superior to some of them and they bypass me to go to someone higher, as to say I can't resovle an issue and when they are told to come back to me, it almost kills them. I am not exagerating or trying to pick a fight. I want to know why I don't have this problem with any other races? I also would like to know are there some unwritten or secret codes that white people just know about?Or do white's teach the children their point of viewa are most important no matter what?

I am one of the few black nurses with my degree. If I tell them I need them to do something or this is the plan of action, they go over my head without knowing the whole reason why I made the decision I made. Whne my superior comes to see whats going on they do side with me. I am not racist! I did not say i hated whites, I said their behavior was getting on my nerves. My superiors are the one's who brought up with the idea about their own people acting foolishly to me one day. If you are in my care, I give 110% I pretty sure you wouldn't want someone wasting time running around trying to be something, instead of doing what i asked to be done for my patient. Being professional, I also don't want to start arguing in the halls of the hospital, because I'm irritated. There is no chip on my shoulder, I can't control another's action. I am all about results. I don't hold a grudge.Whne I go home I don't have to deal with it. I'm just saying I don't have this problem with the other workers.

You know, most of them don't even realize what they are doing. They would swear on their grandmothers Holy Bible that they are not racist. I have experienced similar treatment from certain whites. I'm glad that unlike your experience, the ones I've encountered have been in the minority. if you were to point out their behavior, they would accuse you of being overly sensitive.

Unfortunately, you are a racist. Now, replace "black" where you have put "white", and I'm sure you along with many others of all races would be offended. Now that we have that clear we can move on.

It seems you may have a slight chip on your shoulder, and you are letting some people's annoying habits allow you to define a whole race. Many people fall into that trap, so you are not alone. Next time, try seeing the person as an annoying individual as opposed to a representative of the entire white culture. It would be unfair to do it any other way.

And, no there is no white code, and yes, some are taught that their views are more important than others...but that is not a white thing, more like a bigot thing, and no race is immune.

I wish I could tell you that you're being sensitive, but unfortunately, you may not be. I don't know of any "unwritten code" that tells white people that we won't get into trouble for treating people of another race badly. I do know, however, that there are many people of different races that are prejudiced. It is the same way in race, ethnicity, religion, etc. I am sorry to say that the human race is like that, but deep down I think it is human nature to fear things that are different. Also, it depends on how a person is raised. A question for you, though. What area do you live in? The reason I ask is for you to evaluate something. Are you one of few people of your race in your community? Or has there suddenly been many of your race show up in your community? You don't need to answer this here, but keep in mind that this can affect the way your co-workers treat you. Good luck sweetie, and I hope your situation changes for the better.

If you find yourself constantly at odds with white people, perhaps the issue is not them, but yourself. I have found that workers are annoying no matter what color they are. If they go over your head, this means that you have lost their respect. This can happen to anyone. If your workers think that you are not hard working or do not know enough about something they will find other people who can help them. I dont think this has anything to do with you being black, but with your relationship with them. Since you do not like them, do you avoid them? If you avoid them that may give them the impression that you are lazy and not interested in something, so they don't bother you with details. I have worked at many jobs in the past with black supervisors that ran a tight ship and had the respect of their co-workers, which were a majority white. The problem is clearly you and how you deal with them. If you are a superior to them, then it is YOUR job to make sure you have a good relationship with them, not the other way around.

Since you say it isn't with ALL whites perhaps you might understand the problem by realizing that blacks are 12-15% of the US population, whites are a tremendous majority, so you most likely have contact with more whites in business. If it's only a few Whites that treat you that way, perhaps you should not stereotype all Whites. I would also say that there should be a chain of command where you work, and that you should NOT be bypassed. It wastes everyones time, and doesn't allow you to do your job.
To be fair though, if you have this same problem in many different work situations, perhaps you are partially to blame in your attitude or the way you carry out your duties.

Ok I like this question and I hope what I reply is somewhat helpfull. Im white and I dont have any problems other races. At work I feel as if I get along with everyone so I dont really know about any code but Id like to share what Ive heard other white talk about. I think there are a few types of white people in the work place. A) Is the white person who gets along with everyone hasnt any racial mindset. Ive noticed a few folks like this and it seems sometimes they try to fit in with other races so much it makes them annoying to those races. Like this girl I work with she would always kinda change the way she spoke around different races to try to fit in (most times the folks she was trying to fit in would give her this "OMG IS THIS CHICK FOR REAL" look. B) is the white person doesnt have a problem with other races but is just so worried about offending others that the person just kinda sticks within thier comfort zone (sometimes these people are a little more inclined to talk with a supervisor or manager of thier own race I like to hope they arent meaning to hurt feelings by doing this) and then of course we have C) which is a basic bigot and i think thier intentions is to alienate anyone they can total jerks and yes they do teach thier kids that unfortunately. Hope that might have helped I just wanted to point out that perhaps some white people dont realize they are excluding others they just may not know how to relate and of course some are just worthless bigots .

OK, i've written may answers on this topic. And also see my Question "why are you blind to racism". The fact of the matter is you are the minority. Meaning that you will be treated unfairly. But the funny part is, in the reverse situation it doesn't happen as often. (IE all black environment with only a few Whites". I have had only 1 job in my entire life where i was not single out for being black if the majority of my co-workers were white. Its down right infuriating. But as most of you "DONT" know. Black people in an all white workplace are required to work 2x as hard, Give 2x as much and ask for less than half in return. It's a sad reality, and pisses me off when i see people complain cuz "black people" are lazy. I was working in a factory, and i was THE! fastest worker on my line. We had a new guy who was black, and he was FAST, not faster, but man he worked hard. My boss asked me should we keep him, i said yes, but the others on the line didn't want him, because he "talked" while he worked. (which he did not talk as much as the cackling old ladies next to him) He was let go the next day. A week later, a white guy who as EXTREAMLY slow, and was so close to sexual harrasment it was discusting. He worked for 2 months before they decided he was not worth their time. I myself had to STAY the fastest, because i was always "borderline". So many thing the black community has to go through, and our Counterparts love to point and say:"it's not like that". But it is. And they just dont see it that way. I almost wish the sterotypes were true, so i could sit at home on welfare with 5 kids making more money than someone with a 9-5. But i have neither seen someone do that, nor would i want to. Anyhow, hun you gotta suck it up, because untill white people educate themselves on the REAL world, and not what TV tells them, were gonna suffer. So suffer the easiest way possible and smile at em, because fighting and arguing with em, will just leave you jobless.

Don't forget our secret handshake and club rings. Here's the thing you have to remember, assholes and morons come in every color. I've worked with people who've do the same to me and I am white. Your working with assholes. That's it. Us whites don't teach our children anything different then you people teach your child. Be respectful, have a good work ethic, be kind to others are just of the things that my mother taught me.

Let me ask you a question. Are you working in a predominantly white area? Are you the only black person there? That might make a difference as sucky as that is. The same as if white person posted about working in a place that is predominantly black.

If there are any "unwritten or secret codes," I don't know about them.

But the same sort of situations bother me at work, but it doesn't seem to be any one race, gender, or "type" of people.

I just think that many people in today's workplace are rude and vicious to others.

By the way, my coworkers and supervisors tell me I am "too sensitive." But! Guess who they come to, with a "sensitive" or emotional problem?

If you think every white person wants to control you, then you absolutely are a racist. Especially if it's really important to you whether you're 'superior' or not. What's more, whenever you think everybody is acting the same, it's probably not everybody, it's probably you too. Sounds to me more like you have some kind of inferiority complex as well as being a racist. Good luck with that.

i could like it in case you need to by some capacity magically stay as an African - American for a three hundred and sixty 5 days. and that i don't recommend a wealthy one the two, I recommend a very deprived African American in this u . s . a .. you have not have been given any thought how lots you doubtlessly have coming your way because of the colour of your skin. My dumb white boss is a Sr Director and she or he got here from as humble beginnings as any black guy or woman. She replaced into advantaged because of the fact she is white. i be responsive to purely as many blacks who worked as stressful as though not tougher than she did and replaced into the two as proficient, yet she walked away with the identify. you need to under no circumstances be responsive to or comprehend the Black adventure yet have lots lip while it comprises expressing perspectives like this. this is disheartening.
