Genuine ... You've hit the nail RIGHT ON the head. Greed and squeezing 25 hours out of a day seem to have become the norm in the developed world. But the cost has been enormous, in my view. As I said to a friend just yesterday, doing things takes some time ... Doing things WELL takes even more time. In other words, the faster we try to go, the worse things seem to be getting.

Nice question, Genuine.

I am at my most content of my whole life right now-I have good friends, a steady job, a wonderful boyfriend; my parents are both healthy and still together, and the world is wide open with possibility.
But Still sometimes I long for simpler times: I wish I could be back in the fenced in patio I played in as a child-making wishes in the birdbath, laying on my back and making pictures out of the clouds. I wish I still thought my stuffed animals were real. I miss dressing up like a faerie and going to the grocery store with my mom.
I think that's just the duality of human nature-even when we're really genuinely happy, always, we dream of simplicity. We crave it...because even happy adulthood is complicated.

when i'm happy and i know it, i clap my hands.....

lol.

well, yeah, sometimes i wish i could just have things really simple, like when i was a kid... a glass of orange juice, go out and play with toys and my friends until i'm tired, then go to bed. that certainly was simple, and enjoyable.

but adult life is pretty good too most of the time, and there are things in my life now that make childhood seem like its worth growing out of.

If one were to 'long' for something other, then he most certainly wouldn't be happy. Longing suggests an unhappiness with other than that which is longed for.
