How come people always pledge that they won't do drugs, but they start with pot and move to heavy drugs? Why do they do this when they know it ruins your future? You can end up losing your job and friends!

I believe it is the same reason that people drink.
Doing drugs alters reality.
It covers up problems and makes the user feel better.
some drugs, once you have that great feeling once you want it over and over again (like sex).
Look how many stupid men go to meet a 15 year old girl that they met on line to have sex.
These men ruin careers (a police officer, a doctor, a rabbi etc)
just for a piece of azz.
Dont be to hard on the druggies, I dont think that they have any malicious intent when they start.
