Hey guys,
I have a Netgear 311 PCI Wireless adapter and a Belkin F5D7633-4 wireless modem router.

This is my current connection:

10 metre phone line running to the modem which is connected via ethernet cable to my computer.

What i am wanting to do is leave the modem in the kitchen connect that to the phone line.
And run the internet wirelessly through the PCI Adapter?

I have tried but the signal keeps dropping in and out and even when it's green lighted for 30 seconds i cant get on the net.

okay the modem is right near the computer and th epci adapter and it keeps on scanning through the channels on the netgear pci adapter.

anyone else know why ?

here are pics to describe what i am saying.

1 - here you can see down the bottom all it does is scan

2 - but on the next screen it says connection is at 100%... why is it always scanning.
i turned off the key phrase thing too.

What i would do.

- make sure you have the newest drivers for your card.

- then i would not use the netgear scanning tool they give you. I would use the one that windows already has. (That is if you are using XP or XP pro.)
- If you are using windows scanning tool it will show the networks that are in rang, just connect to your network.
- and lastly i would get into your router and set up a WEP-KEY

O by the pic you posted i would log into your router (192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1) and set it so your router is G and B for the wiresless setting.

message me on aim if you need more help (aaronnws)

first of all both products leave a lot to be desired. i had a netgear wireless adapter and it had the same problems (i wound up getting rid of it). you can try to go to netgear's site and download the latest firmware/drivers. also, the signal may be dropping and picking right back up. check the belkin router and make sure that wireless is on channel 6 (this is the strongest). if you have other people with wireless setups near you (within 300-400 feet) then try changing it to channel 11 or some of the other channels. you can also change the speed to match your card on the router. don't use the mix, B, or auto. finally you could take all security off and just connect to the router openly but i don't recommend that. belkin also has a firmware update for that model so i would try that. finally, if none of this works i recommend getting a different wireless card (usually good to keep the same company for both card/router or linksys is usually ok).

You lost me when you got technical

I had the same problem when I had one computer down stairs connected to DSL and computer upstair via Wireless

First Internet comes in by cable
Goes to wireless Router, Router output wire goes to downstairs computer. Upstairs computer has Wireless USB receiver, so it can work independantly.

What you have to do is establish the proper link from the computer working wirelessly to the wireless signal

You should have set it up by following instructions on installation disc of wireless router

if that has been done, go to task bar at bottom of your screen, right click the monitor icon and see if you can get connection installed
