A van is a box shaped vehicle designed for freight...it has body on frame construction, and usually doesn't have comfortable passenger accomodations, and drives like a truck. A minivan is a box shaped vehicle built on a unibody car chasis. It's usually set up for family use, with room for five or more passengers. It drives like a car. An SUV is like a station wagon with water retention: a seriously bloated boat. It doesn't drive very far without tipping over.

Van is a full sized (van styled) vehilce usually used for hauling large loads, or heaverier loads, Chevrolet G3500. A minivan is usually a family styled van, Dodge Caravan. An SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) is pretty much a van (styled as a truck) put on a trucks frame, think "cool" station wagon, Ford Explorer.

First, years back laws were passed that said that by the year ????? ALL CARS have to get x miles to the gallon of gas! Work trucks and vans were utility vehicle's, car makers saw that the public still wanted big cars to travel in so they fancied up the utility vehicles with all the buttons and started calling them Sport Utility Vehicles(SUV's)so now the car makers weren't under the law to make trucks more fuel efficient only cars! They still made money and they broke no laws.......SUV's and trucks are still considered utility vehicle's!

an suv has some style and looks and the rest of the van junk is on a sorry frame and they are like a box on wheels..... suv is ""sport utility vehicle"" and most of them can handle weight and have stability that the van-junk cannot ever hope to meet......

Van and min vans actually have some purpose.SUVs are just for all the idiots out there that have to one because of all the other stupids idiots that have them. For some dumb reason they think there cool.SUV=Stupid Unnecessary Vehicle
