A bit over a million. More than 500,000 for sure.

There were 1,049,751 as of 2002.

Judging by their adds on TV and the number elected to hold public office, I would say way more than a half million. Should put an open season on them and set a bag limit. Clean out a few hundred thousand would be nice.
