As a psychology major in college, I can tell u that most people think their memories get clearer, but in reality, your brain just fills in what it can't actually remember for u, and it seems like it's right (just like other dreams that r strictly just dreams seem so real). I would suggest meeting w/ a therapist to talk it out, sometimes just getting your feelings out will solve the problem- although I assume that if u know u have PTSD you've already done so, in which case your therapist is who u need to discuss this with. I also assume that the police interviewed u as a witness in this crime? If not u need to come forward and clear your conscience; they can also tell u what I've told u about witnesses losing the true memories of what happened and people changing their statements. If u still don't believe it, read the stories in psych books about soldiers w/ PTSD and their interviews right after the incidents and those same recollections 10 yrs later.

I would schedule an appointment with a psychologist soon. I think you need to merely sit down and talk about what happened, since it's still plaguing you. Talking about it will ease the burden you are feeling. I wouldn't go to someone who simply prescribes drugs to solve problems, but a psych person who will listen to you, and help you work out the feelings and dreams you're having.

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
