Better not. Because of the same genes both inherit especially the bad ones (related to diseases) will multiply. Lots of kids of inbreeding are born mentally and physically challenged.

To discourage inbreeding, marriage between members of the same gothram is strictly forbidden.

sure. it depends how u r. if its not permissible for ur social set up and u r very traditional ................., my answer will not be perfect. if, as i suppose, u r a male and u want to marry a girl, there is no problem. if it s from ur own family, it may bring genetic diorders to the offsprings...........From same gothram makes no hazzards in ur future life.

No you can not. Gotra stands for the origin of your family.
Therefore a girl of the same gotra is like your sister.
And HINDUS do not marry to their sisters.
