Why would a wife want to spend time with another man when she could spend them with her husband?

It is possible but not a good idea normally. How would your wife feel if you had a female friend besides her? It is best for couples to tell one another their thoughts, ideas, secrets. Sharing these things with a member of the opposite sex normally causes jealousy and dispute.

Of course i have a lot of male friends besides my husband, and he isnt upset about it or anything and he also has a lot of female friends besides me. We look at it like this they are just friends they may have been something in the past but the past is over and done with and the friendship will always be there, not only that but why should anyone get rid of there friendship with the opposite sex just because they get married ?? Its all about trust.

I love simply me's answer. As long as both agree...that is so true but I am afraid I have to disagree with most of the answers here. I know.... never say never so I won't, but human nature as it is really doesn't permit us to have friends of the opposite sex without alot of drama or inuendo. Most times it doesn't work not because there is something wrong in the relationship or marriage but because in a weird way there is more times than not a undercurrent of flirtations or sexual atmosphere even if its subtle. And in that we all know this, then there is always alittle speculation...alittle wondering about the other person and what they would be like etc etc which lends itself to the possibility of temptation to arise somewhere sometime and if even a hint of that surfaces then all hell can break out with jealousy, accusations, assumptions and who needs all that.

I think so. But I also think that it is very important that the husband is comfortable with his wife being freinds with any guy. If the husbands not happy and has doubts well that leads to suspision, then jealousy, then rage...and so on. Its not worth it to me. my husband has to be okay and know my guy friends on a personal level or I am not comfortable with it. You have to have trust and honesty in a realtionship or there is no relationship. I lost alot of guy friends when I married but to me I gained a way better one!

Men and women of comparable looks cannot be true friends. Something sexual will eventually happen.

Better looking men than the woman can be friends and extremely better looking woman than the man can be friends.

If the woman is close enough in looks for the wildest imagination of the male counterpart, she might do him. Women are extremely easy to talk into sex, especially when they're upset.

I say it is best that your woman is your woman and that you do not befriend other men's wives. Nothing but trouble in that stuff.

Ya, I think it's much easier for women to have male friends...and keep them as just friends. Unless of course your married to a HO who uses the excuse of a male companion so she can get her side groove on. It depends on the kind of girl your talking about. For the most part though women can be just friends. It's usually the men that can't deal with that, I find that most men only befriend women because they secretly WANT THEM. But again this isn't always the case.

Of course. A husband is someone she loves enough to commit to and go through the rest of her life with. A friend serves a completely different purpose that can be without sexual feelings.

Sure ... friendship does not know gender, age, race etc. If you and your wife are secure about your marriage, this will not be an issue. Just like if you have female friends. If the guy is gay... even better.

I honestly believe men as well as women can and should; have a friend besides their spouse. I truly believe, with a friend of opposite sex we can bounce thoughts, feelings, misgivings, off the other. The opposite sexes opinion can /should help us to understand our spouses outlook. ~Like?~ "Did I over react?" "She said"---? "Does? she love me still then?"

It's all opinions; if your wife has a male friend; are you? Familiar with him? Do "YOU?" call him friend....

I love my male best friend as does my hubbie. I actually call him my "other" husband...."THE ONE I DO NOT SLEEP WITH!"
He is/has been for 16 yrs. I would not trade him.

Hope this helps.
