What is too much that a sponsor can ask of my company?

It really all depends on what kind of event you're promoting. Once that is determined then you can define your target audience or group of potential sponsors.

Typically, once you've identified your potential sponsors then you can offer them the opportunity to advertise at your event. For instance if you're giving everyone who comes to your event a tote bag then your sponsors can pay for and ad space on the bag - therefore, sponsoring your event and benefiting them too.
