Normally all you really have to replace are just the O-ring seals. Turn off the water underneath the sink. On the faucet handle there should normally be a cap. Work the cap off then underneath should be some sorth of screw. Remove the screw and the handle should come off. Depending on the faucet there will probably be 1-2 O-rings to replace per handle. Take your old O-rings to the hardware store with you and go to the plumbing section. You may want to get a store clerk for assistance. They should have several boxes of O-rings or some kits with various sizes. Try matching the O-ring size as best you can. You may want to pick up some plumbers grease also. The grease will help keep your O-rings from wearing out so quickly by reducing the friction. After you've gotten replacement O-rings clean off the handles and where the O-rings will fit. Rub a little plumbers grease on the new O-rings and install them where the old ones were. Make sure not to knick or cut the O-rings while putting them back on or your faucet may leak. Put the faucet back together then turn the water back on and try out your faucet. If you've done it right, it shouldn't leak.

If you have trouble, watch a few episodes of Ask This Old House on PBS. They fix leaky faucets on the show all the time. O-rings are cheap and are normally the first thing to go bad on a faucet. Usually besides the O-rings, the faucet will last for years and years.

If it's seat less, just turn off water first, then remove top ring, and there should be a black rubber cup looking thing with a spring up under it, replace both. If it's the old type you'll need a seating wrench to re move the old seat, and you'll also need to change out the washer. Just take it all to hardware store, and they should be able to fix you up. Also you might want to get a few extras for latter on down the road. I keep extra seats and washers in an old pill bottle right in the bathroom, that way I know right where they are when I need them.

Change the washers and seats, possibly the whole stems. It's not hard. may have to get a seat wrench, but they're inexpensive,
