Which market? And which session?
The NYSE opens at 6:30 am and ends at 1:00 pm Pacific, though ETFs can be traded until 1:15 pm.
The NYSE Arca would open @ 12:30 am for Pre-Opening Session, 1:00 am for the Opening Session, 6:30 am for the Market Order Session and the Core Trading Session, and Extended orders begins at 1:00 pm. (Basically, it is possible to place orders between 12:30 am and 5:00 pm, and trade from 1:00 am to 5:00 pm Pacific.
The NASDAQ Pre-Market opens at 5:00 am, with the regular market opening at 6:30 am, and the After Hours Market opening at 1:00 pm. (Basically trading is possible on the NASDAQ from 5:00 am to 3:30 pm.
The American Stock Exchange (AMEX), although announcing its open at 6:30 am Pacific, is actually open at 6:00 am, and remains open in regular session until 1:00 pm.
(sorry these are only some of the many American equity exchanges, but they are the leading domestic markets. for information about foreign exchanges -- eg the LSE, TSX, ASX, DB, etc. -- see their websites, and remember that for the next few weeks, the hour convresions are different because the US went to DST early.)

I'm always eager to see what Nathan's next suggestion is each Friday and I love having time on the weekend to do my research.

The New York Stock Exchange, NASDAQ, American Stock Exchange all open at 9:30 am Eastern Time. That would be 6:30 am in Pacific Time.

the same time that it opens in New York (or wherever the market is that you're watching). Just subtract the difference for Pacific standard time....so if a market opens at 9 am in NY, it opens at 6 am PST.
