I never lost my plug...that I know of...just relax, it can happen any day, you are off to a good start considering you're only 38 weeks! Take this short time that you have left to make sure you have everything ready for baby, and get LOTS of rest, you will need it!! You definitely don't have a long time left, true labor will start when the time is right, labor is triggered by a hormone that the baby releases, so until that happens, its the good old waiting game! Hang in there, it won't be long at all! Good luck!

The concept of a mucus plug is not really valid in predicting the onset of labor. More important is the fact that the cervix is ripening and the due date is approaching. The most likely time to go into labor is from a week and a half before the due date to a week and a half after the due date. So you will likely go a few more days to a few more weeks. When the cervix ripens it may tempt the doctor to predict when labor will begin, but it more likely will tell how the labor will procede once labor does begin. As long as everything is going well, the best thing is to be patient. And don't worry about the mucus plug, it really means very little as to predicting the onset of labor.

relax most women dont even loose there mucus plug befor they go into labour while others do but in little peices and they didnt even notice it while on the other hand at the hospital when your water breaks you can also lose it and this may also even be at 8 cms dialated as you can see there are an array of situations nobody can predict this.
i dont no where all the info comes from these days but ladies you should be asking all these facts to your doctors women are definatly under a lot of false pretences when you more then likly relax you will go into labor(and yes you can still have your plug lol) i wish you luck and congrats 2 you!!!

My first pregnancy I was totally induced and no, I never lost my mucus plug that I know of. My water broke on it's own with my second pregnancy and to my knowledge I never lost my mucus plug. But I was told a lot of times you can lose your mucus plug and not even know it. Like when you get up to go the bathroom in the middle of the night and you are groggy - sometimes don't even turn on the light - you can lose it then and flush it away and never know. So maybe you have already lost it and just didn't know it?! I don't think there is really any way to know how much longer you have to go based on mucus plug alone. You're getting there...!! All good things in the coming days and weeks! Good luck!

I just had my 3rd child on feb.15, and didn't lose the mucus until about 20 minutes before I started pushing. That was after 1-2 hrs of being completely dialated. With my 2nd, I lost the mucus when I was about 3-4 cm dialated. after I lost it with my second, it took about 4hrs to hold my baby in my arms.

I know theres some people who dont even know theyve lost there mucus plug.
""""The plug may come out all at once in a lump, or as increased vaginal discharge over the course of several days, It may also be tinged with blood (a bloody show or just show) """
But you can lose it somtime durring your hospital stay.
So No you dont have to lose it or you may not be aware of it. If you are effaced and have started dialating it will just be a waiting game lol sorrry to say im in the same boat as you are were like sitting ducks!!!!

Believe me girl dont rush it. Im sure your really anxious though.
I lost mine and its a bit freaky..tmi...but I think not all do. It is really obvious when you do. Then once out, it can still take up to a few days to start labor. At least thats what I read somewhere. I had my son only 1 day after losing the plug at 37wks.
Go to www.babycenter.com
There are boards to post and talk to other new mommys so you wont feel so all alone. I loved that website and still do after 3yrs
Good luck! Youll love the new little person soo much.

I have no idea when I lost my Mucas plug.
I had two children in the early 80's and had natural childbirth.
I went into labor and delivered first one in 4 hours and second one in 4 1/2 hours. They had to break my water both times.
But as far as the mucas plug goes, I am pretty sure I didnt lose it until I got to the hospital.
