Her husband wants to name the child after his mothers father. This mans name is Phillip. Now my sister does whaterver her husband wants. It's almost abusive, IMO. Is it just me or will my future nephew forever be ridiculed as Phil Larmonik??

Poor thing! Look on the bright side. he'll probably be a nerd and end up doing something great for society! lol. It really doesn't sound that bad. Believe me I have heard alot worse.

I actually don't mind the name Phillip. I went to school with a couple guys with this name and they were nice guys. I don't have any bad associations. :) They didn't go by Phil very much though...always Phillip.

Convince her to use a middle name that he can always go by if he gets older. You could also suggest a J name so that he can go by P.J. You can't go wrong with P.J. :)

It is hard when someone you love isn't getting treated with the respect you feel they deserve. She probably gives into him because it is just easier than having to deal with an argument or an attitude. She's choosing not to sweat the small stuff.

I hope everything works out well. SD

I once knew a man named Phillip and everyone called him Flip. I think Phil Larmonik sounds much better in combination than that name would! Actually the whole name sounds very pleasant and has nice connotations. Could be much worse!

Are you serious? That's not cool at all. My brother and his wife had a little boy, our last name is Barron - they had a fair few people convinced they were calling him Darren Aaron. But if the guys serious, that's not so funny...

I don't think he'll be ridiculed, but i do agree that she should probably pick a different name. (i don't know what it is about that name but it's like.....couldn't they come up with anything else)??!! If she would want a different kind of name i would pick Leland (it's Hawaiian) or something along the more traditional line would be Spencer or Blake. IDK. GOOD LUCK WITH all that

Hahaha! Ya, he's totally gonna get made fun of, but hey, it's their kid and their business. Sucks for the kid though.
