Ok, well there's the situation. My mother's side of the family has never seemed to like me. When we were younger they would always take my cousin's side in any argument, and they would insult me all the time. For example once my cousin had been making fun of me (I was 6 at the time, she was 8) eventually I started to cry. Then one of our aunts came over and she just started yelling at me for crying she started talling me that I was useless and that I couldn't do anything but cry. it's 10 years later and they've done the same thing over and over. My mother tells me that they don't hate me, but they would call me useless whenever she wasn't around, and they would pretty much always ignore me because I was shy when I was younger. The other thing is I'm the first person who isn't completely asian in my family, my father was caucasian and my mother was asian.
Is this normal or considered 'right'? Or did I break some sort of unwritten rule by being born and being a shy and quiet person?

You are who you are and that's all that's to it! You can not change who you are. So, don't give it another thought. As for your rude and vicious relatives, ignore them. They have made it a habit of ignoring you, so now it is your turn to ignore them. Do not spend even one second in their company. Make yourself scarce when they are around. Go for a walk. Go to the store. Visit a friend. Go to your room, lock the door and study. When you make your exit, do not be rude, but politely and swiftly remove yourself from their presence. Whatever you do, though, do not feel that you have to tolerate being victimized by any of your relatives.

It is sad to say, but your mother won't believe you until she actually hears with her own ears them belittling you. Hang in there, before you know it you will be twenty one and on your own.

I know that this will sound harsh, but if that's the way they feel about you then maybe you should surround yourself with family that accepts you for YOU. I have a sister-in-law who basically from day one decided she wasn't going to like me, and she sure as heck wasn't going to even TRY. It bothers me some, especially around holidays when I try to be nice and speak and it falls on deaf ears. Now I don't even bother with her~~I seek out people who will have something to do with me and enjoy their company, and not let one person's ignorant behavior ruin a good time that is supposed to be enjoyed by all. Good luck, and when all else fails, PRAY!!!

Honey, you are special no matter what your family says about you. You were wonderfully made in your mother's womb by God himself. And God don't make no junk. You were created in the image of God, and He loves you so much that words cannot even describ. He sent His son, Jesus to die on the cross for you to save you from your sins. Now if that's not love I don't know what is. You are not useless...you were created for a purpose...by the one true and living God. You are beautiful and special in the eyes of the Lord. Every time somebody calls you useless I want you to say out loud, I am God's creation and God loves me. I am special in the eyes of the Lord and I rebuke all those curses in the name of Jesus. Say it, and say it out loud and watch your life change for the good. Don't ever let anybody speak curses into your life....all you have to do is say I rebuke that in the name of Jesus. And always remember Jesus loves you!

I wonder if your Mothers side of the family holds it against you because your only 1/2 Asian?
Maybe "they" don't consider you Asian enough.
Which you had/have no control over.
Your mother should stand up for you and not let her family talk badly about you.

I think you know the answer to that. I had it rough when I was a kid too. Hang in there, some day you'll be able to choose who is in your life and who you can do without. Maybe you can choose now. Don't let ignorant people get you down. Be above them.
