Better than Lakers-Kings in the early 2000s?

i regard rivalry as a game between teams that dont like one another....like the pistons and bulls in the early 90's, and the heat and knicks of the late 90's. they were rivals because players often had heated exchanges and you were bound to see some physical punishment being handed by the enforcers of their respective teams.

suns vs mavs, and lakers vs kings are great games to watch because those teams played HARD. and they played hard due to history of being knocked out in playoffs, or due to the similar style and rankin of the teams.

i agree that they are fantastic and exciting games to watch. but true rivalry is the one where u know its gonna get heated. the suns vs mavs is by far the most entertaining rivalry at the moment....add in some tech finals, ejections and heartbreaking buzzer beaters, and this will be the rivalry to watch.....anyone else hoping these two go 7 games in the west finals?

Lakers-Kings--please.

It's a good season rivalry but I agree with the Guy, not enough between these teams yet at all. I find the San Antonio-Mavericks rivalry more exciting. But none of those are anything compared to the amazing Lakers-Celtics rivalries that spans over decades, especially the Magic-Bird 80s.

No; because rivalries aren't simply the two best teams playing against one another. There has to be a history between the two teams. The Lakers-Kings from the late 90's to early 00's is not even comparable. Do you remember the cow bells? the noise? the hack-a-Shaq? That is the stuff rivalries are made of!

Not yet. Unless there is physical fighting or public trash talking involved.. Dirk and Steve Nash are just nice guys.. Terry, Stackhouse, Amare and Bell might go at it though..

I think right now, LA vs Phoenix is a better rivalry since they had bad history last year, but Kobes team is too far down

These are the real rivalries, complete with the trash talk and fighting:

LA vs Celtics 80s
Bulls vs Detroit late 80s
Heat vs Knicks late 90s

It's lame like all modern rivalries are. The best was the 80's Celtics/76ers rivalry. Those guys hated each other. Fights were a regular feature. Not these girly slap and back away events we see today but solid fist to the face, headlocks, throat grab fights. Even Dr J used to become involved.

Yep lol, i just saw the game suns vs. Mavs dude double overtime. It's so intense! and they all bring what they got. I personally liike the suns better just cuz i live in arizona lol but yeah... Lakers and King I didn't think that was that big of a rivalry. I mean they're both california team! If one of them make it to the playoff they represent the same place!!!!

The Suns are a extra effectual team then the Mavericks yet they have a demanding time matching up against the Mavericks. Dirk and Steve play distinctive positions, yet I do have self assurance that Steve is the extra effectual participant all around. I definately think of the Suns are a extra relaxing team to observe then the Mavs
