My girlfriend's ipod video was also frozen no matter what button we tried to press. So what i did was to just let the battery run flat, then charge it up again after that. it worked!

I dont know how to fix your exact problem but I know there is a place you can send it to that will do an analysis of it and tell you exactly what is wrong. Once they find the problem they will contact you and ask you whether or not you want to fix it and how much it would cost to do it. If you dont want them to fix it they will send it back to you. (I think that it only cost a penny to send it to them and have them look at it for you) It is called the Ipod Mechanic. Had to send off my sisters Ipod because it froze and found out the hard drive went bad and they fixed if for me for a really good price. I hope this helps

Hold down the middle button and the button at the top at the same time and HOLD for a few seconds. That should clear your problem.
