I need a way/treatment/med to kill them without harming my turtles and without turning the filter off, and yes, it has carbon in it. Any ideas?

Do you know for certain that these are worms and not insect larvae? Some insects lay eggs on the surface of the tank water and hatch out into little red or white larvae that look like threads and swim in a jerky "S" shaped motion. Just want to give you the right advice!

Go to your neighboorhood fish store owner and ask the fish "expert" what they are. There are hundreds of things that look like microworms and it will be impossible to diagnose unless a sample is present. Right now none of us can help you because we dont know if you have a freshwater or saltwater tank, what type of fish you have, how big are your microworms, what color are they, and all these things are important for us to help you... sorry

Most worms are tasty treats for fish and turtles. I guess your turtles aren't eating them? But, these worms won't harm your tank. There really isn't anything you can do to kill them that won't harm the turtles too. A high solution salt treatment would work, but you would have isolate your turtles somewhere else until the worms were killed and while you recycle the tank.
