Sarawak is a place which full of natural, cultural & heritage, the peoples are very friendly and the place is peaceful.

Don't expect to find happening disco, clubbing or big size of shopping complex (soon 1 will on 2008), for some peoples may feel boring, but you can relax and refresh your mindset at here.

Sarawak is the biggest state in Malaysia, almost the size of Peninsular Malaysia, therefore is not easy to get around. Most of the attraction places in Kuching will easily take an hour drive, the Mulu Cave is 45min flight fr Kuching.

The public transportation is not convenient due to the distant, and the direction signage is very poor. Most situation were end up, dont know how to go and where to find the bus, and even lost... so is quite difficult to manage the travel time and very frustrated. the better way is to hire a driver or taxi to go around but its costly. i would suggest you to arrange different day trips with the hotel or local travel agent, tell them the places you wish to go, then they will offer some packages for you. No worry, their prices are reasonable and they are trustable! Or ideally, you find a local guy as your guide...

I would suggest you stay close at Riverside (center of Kuching town), along the Riverside there are restaurants and souvenir shops, at the end is the Waterfront, turn left towards the Hotel Merdeka is the State Museum and Tourist Center. This route would probably take a half day by walking.

Beside that, you should visit
• Orang Utan @ "Semenggoh Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre" (you need to check the feeding time)
• The Crocodile Farm (worth to see)
• The Borneo Height (for some cool air refresh)

and 6 museums...
• The Old & New State Museum in town
• Chinese Museum @ Riverside
• Islamic Museum (forgot the road name...)
• Timberland Museum (forgot the road name...)
• Cat Museum @ North City Hall

Out of the Kuching city
You can spend a day to the seaside @ Santurbong Damai Beach, on the way you can visit • the Cultural Village (must see!), Cat Museum & Timberland Museum.

If you are interested on wildlife, birds & insects, you can go to Bako National Park (the nearest to Kuching).

also can visit a long house @ Batang Ai, there is a shuttle bus service fr Kuching Hilton Hotel, about 4hrs drive.

If you want to explore adventure to Mulu or Niah Cave, you need another 3 days and have to check with local agent in Kuching.

well, i would say you probably need at least 4-5 days to go around. Below are some website which got further details, hope you will njoy & gd luck :)
