Someone told me Kirby's have a lifetime warranty. Is this true? If so, will they cover it if it's not the original owner?

I worked for Kirby for 3 years and yes it is true they have a lifetime warranty, however, it only applies to the ORIGINAL purchaser. If you buy it off Ebay, you will not get the warranty of ANY kind. Even if you "haggle" with customer service and say it is a gift, that will not work. Don't believe anyone that says it will still be under warranty unless you buy it from the Kirby dealer direct and you will fill out a warranty card right then and there. The warranty has to be in YOUR name and noone elses, and that will ONLY happen when you buy from the dealer in home.

We bought a used '94 Kirby in 1996. We paid $400. for it. I like the powerful suction, but it also comes with drawbacks. The following are my opinions about this Kirby: 1. I don't like the cost of replacing the filters (they're about $8. a bag and only have 3 bags in a package. 2. It's not easy to change from vacuum to using the hose. 3. It's kind of heavy and bulky and doesn't maneuver easily. In my opinion, it's not worth it. You can purchase a bagless Dyson for around $500. and they work great. Does the $1800. price include all of the attachments? Do you need all those attachments? Are all the bells & whistles worth $1800.?

Hard to say, but they are the best I've seen, My mom still has one from when I was a boy and I'm 58 now. Just replaced the light bulbs and the belt.

I don't think so. unless you really put up a fight if you call customer service and say it was a gift?
