Pistolavirus, are you saying gays are not discriminated against because we are not subjected to Jim Crowe laws?

knowitall - So getting gaybashed and not hired/getting fired for being gay, is better than being a woman?

Keenly aware.

While I am straight Myself, I have several friends that are gay. (Heck, a gay friend of mine introduced me to my wife.) I have seen the double standard that people have with regard to gays. Even blacks do not seem to see the level of discrimination that occurs, and you would think that they would be more sensitive to it than the average person.

Part of what seems to make it acceptable is the religious stories that make it okay to persecute gays. This, unfortunately, translates into making it politically acceptable to discriminate them. Not to mention the fact that the discriminatory laws are not segregationist laws, but, rather, exclusionary laws. This is even more insulting because segregationary laws at least in theory were supposed to be equal. Exclusionary laws do not even try for that pretense.

Most American males would feel like being around a Gay male is interpreted by others as "If you have Gay friends you must be gay too or at very least Bi-sexual." This I am sure you will agree can and does happen. So in order to not let straight friends and especially enemies, get pleasure by teasing or blogging this all over, you act hostile to those that are gay, thereby preventing any possibility of acquiring that label. Is this "Fair" probably not if you are the one receiving the hostility but at least you prevent anyone calling you Gay if you are straight. I know that most Gay males do receive this type of discrimination. I also believe the males that choose this lifestyle do make a conscious choice. Unlike many of them claim, that they were just born gay. This statement in most cases is untrue, because the decision is made at around 15 to 18 years of age and not as an infant. The reasons are varied for making that choice but once they do they should realize discrimination will follow and be ready to withstand the name calling and be able to take measures to minimize the abuse to come. If you really choose to be gay, then you will be discriminated against, expect it even though you do not necessarily deserve it.

Yes the probably do, but like everything else unless directly affects them they just don't care. It is very unfortunate that most people cannot get past the fact that we are all created equal...... and there is nothing that is after that. We are all equal regardless but until judgement day is upon us most will continue as they always have. And honey, it is not just gays that are discriminated against. That is the sad part it is not just one thing that suffers from discrimination and it is not just in the United States either.

Yes, probably about as much as a woman. Try getting equal pay for doing the same job as a man. But you really don't know about that do you? Because no matter how gay you are you will never know this discrimination.

I have seen westboro church discriminating against them, I would say I have seen some, but , no , not to much to worry about some hate stuff, why not send us links and enlighten us to this discrimination ? They can always keep it to themselves ? I dont go around telling people my business like that , but having kids sort of shows im not entirely homosexual, but doesnt mean I couldnt be bi, so, people just choose to hate , and shouldnt. Unless they are hating killing and violence !!

Can discriminatation be defined ( in this context) ? I think people really do not care. You want to be Gay, be Gay. What people do not understand is that who are gay. I have not met a person who is gay that I could tell if he/she was gay. Thus I can not discriminate them. To me people of the same sex not being able get married etc.... is not discrimination. B/c that is a marriage, you can call it anything you want its not marriage. Most people in US (my opnion) dont agree with the concept of "gay." They are not stoping/ limiting people who are gay to eat/ use restroom. So HONESTLY what?

Yes I believe that they honestly don't know how much in the USA and all over the world. "Gay bashing" very rarely makes the news. After a perpetrator has committed a crime he is not going to go home and tell Mom about it!
