Why haven't EA Sports releaced a major league baseball game?

I thought last year was just a fluke. Their games are usual great.

Basically what everybody else said.

After 2K Sports release ESPN NFL 2K5 ( a good football game not named Madden) at 20 bucks, EA got scared of a little competition and purchased 3rd party exclusive rights to the NFL license, then following Madden 05 with a decent Madden 06 but an awesome Madden 07.

2K reacted by purchasing the 3rd party exclusive rights to the MLB license, so EA got NCAA football and baseball rights.

The one loophole in the deal is the phrase 3rd party. That means Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo can use the NFL and MLB license to make games (hence MLB 07 The Show)

Basically, it's all about the money sadly.

Because EA can't use the MLB license.

Basically, a few years ago, the NFL approached EA Sports about making a deal where the NFL license can only be used by EA Sports (most people think that EA approached the NFL, but it's not true). Well, EA Sports couldn't pass up such a great deal, so a deal was struck between the NFL and EA Sports. So, for 4 more years, EA Sports has the NFL license exclusively.

To strike back at EA Sports, 2K sports approached MLB and struck a deal where 2K Sports is the only 3rd party that can use the MLB license. Note: The deal doesn't exclude first party developers so Sony, MS, and Nintendo can make baseball games using the MLB license. So if EA sports wants to make a baseball game, it will have to use players that don't belong to the MLBPA, so it's basically retired players and Barry Bonds.

Because, EA took the NFL license, 2k decided to exclude only EA from pro baseball games.2k owns the rights.They're game is very good anyway.

their games are usually but the quality of their games have slipped i like to play triple play 2001 it has okay graphics and it waas stil a fun game even though it was for ps1
