hypnosis is not a fancy thing, it just means you have an altered state of consciousness when you are more suggestible - we all have this when we are groggy and believe things more easily. Most hypnosis doesn't have people answering bananas like telephones - therapist are more interested in shaping behavior for later like getting people to stop smoking and overeating

Yeah, my brother was hyppnotized once. It happened at a local comedy club where they had this hypnotist one Friday night. He somehow managed to convince my brother that he was a bird. That is, until he tried to fly off the top of his apartment building and broke his leg. He's all better now because we took him to a psychiatrist and got him straightened out. He does, however, still try to poop on people's cars every now and then.

It depends on how susceptible to influence you are. If you really don't want to do it, you won't, but if you're able to relax deeply and follow directions you will be hypnotized.

Yes, my great-great grandfather was a hypnotist and he could really do it well.

yes...as a therapy is it many times more effective than regular talk therapy
