No it doesn't HAVE to, but similes and metaphors are what makes poetry beautiful.

no, not unless you want to... no poem really has to contain anything in particular unless it has to do with the lines or rhyme scheme. at least i think so? metaphors and similes would be nice though!

No, a poem has to express your emotions, and it should make sense. Don't use that old William Shakespere stuff like, "thy", or "thou shalt" etc
